Namaste Your Work Day: Managing Career Stress

With all of the tasks you have to manage in your day to day, sometimes it is easy to forget to put an effective plan for stress management into place for yourself. Keeping your work life stress-free, organized, and well-planned is key to success in your career.

Every once in a while we can all reach a point when work stress seems to crop up out of nowhere. And in order to move forward, one must get strategic. Maybe you’re unsure why you have gotten there and need some help figuring out how to be more organized. Perhaps you need some tips on time management which you can read a bit about here. Or maybe you just need a little guidance on how to streamline.

Tips to De-Stress Work Life

Tailor your schedule for success. If you’re able to dictate your work schedule, you should take advantage of that wonderful opportunity. You can do this by setting time to work during the period of the day in which you are most active, awake, and in a favorable mood. If you are one of the gifted few who rise early, raring to go, but cashes out later in the afternoon, then do most of your work in the morning when you are most productive.

On the other hand, you may be the type that wakes up slowly. Perhaps making a game plan for your day over a leisurely cup of coffee and a good breakfast is the way for you.

Give yourself a break. Some of us don’t have any control over our schedule. It is what it is, and you just have to make it work, right? If you find yourself cashing out mid afternoon, get some fresh air if you can, break the day up with a snack or a cup of tea. Take 10 minutes to catch up on social media. Allow yourself this small period of time to intentionally break your concentration, so that you can get back into it with a clear mind.

Ask for help if you need it. Don’t suffer in silence if you know you aren’t able to complete everything on your plate. Delegate those tasks that are overwhelming you to someone with some extra time. It is better to lessen the load from the get-go than to allow it to stack up. Then again, don’t take on more than you can comfortably accomplish.

If all else fails…

Remember to Breathe. Take a tip from the Yogis of the world and breathe deeply for a few minutes. Relax your body. Let go of tension. Breathe in through your diaphragm, allowing your stomach to rise and fall with your breath, not your shoulders. This is a proven way to unwind some tension in your body and clear your mind. And it may seem small, but it is just another way to add a bit of simple self-meditation to your day and find some inner peace. Namaste.
