Travel can be fun, exciting, and a way to get away from the stress of the day to day grind. One thing that it shouldn’t be is a headache, especially with the holidays coming up. Regardless if you are traveling for business, holiday, or leisure, you want your trip planning to be easy and help you make the most of your time away. In the world of “there’s an app for that” I’ve found the best apps to make travel planning a breeze.
1. TripIt
TripIt has managed to get its travel planning down to three easy steps. You’ll first book all of your flights and hotels, then forward your confirmations, and BOOM you can then access your itinerary from the device of your choice. It’s really that easy. Some additional features include the ability to edit your plans, sync your travel to your calendar, conveniently store all your travel documents, and share your travel plans. If you want to spend a little money and upgrade to the pro version you’ll get some really great additional options including real time flight alerts, VIP travel benefits, the ability to find out if a better seat is available and more.

2. Sygic
Sygic allows you to create your own itinerary and helps by suggesting locations and attractions close by. Not only does it make suggestions, but it also gives you tons of information on the attractions so that you don’t have to research them on your own. It also provides you with the hours and contact information of the attraction. Tripomatic’s map can save you tons of driving time and help you make the most of your trip. Even if you are traveling for business you can check out the map and see what’s close by. This app also allows you to book hotels, flights, or rent a car directly from the app.

3. WorldMate
This one is definitely for those whose travel will be centered on work as WorldMate was made with the businessperson in mind. This app is all about organization and accessibility. WorldMate’s mobile check-in, calendar synchronization, and real-time flight status make it a perfect fit for even the busiest travelers. You’ll be able to organize your travel and business meetings in one place. Plus, the more you use it the more customized it becomes by using your past trip information. It also syncs with LinkedIn to help connect you with colleagues while on the go.

4. Roadtrippers
Notably, this one is the most fun to use on the list. Roadtrippers boasts a section titled “weird stuff” to help you plan the ultimate road trip. Once you have created a basic outline of your trip including your destinations and lodging options, Roadtrippers will map out your road trip. A notable feature of this app is that it will show you the distance between each location on your itinerary. The absolute best thing about Roadtrippers is that it opens up all the possibilities from home to your destination. You’ll be able to find attractions that you would have otherwise driven right past.
